This presentation is relevant to AFCC as it addresses the complexity of treating parent-child contact problems and assisting legal and mental health professionals to create treatment plans based on a decision-making approach that considers the unique factors in each case. Many judges, attorneys, and mental health professionals who work with parent-child contact problems express that these cases can be challenging. The multifactor approach to understanding parent-child contact problems provides a template to screen for all the factors that may contribute to this dynamic, resisting the urge to determine too quickly a dominate factor theory of a parent-child contact problem.
